A Mini Break For One In Tasmania

As you know, I’m all for solo adventures, so today I thought I’d share a few snaps from my Tasmanian mini break at the beginning of last year.

This little trip to Hobart really rejuvenated me and it was a great way to escape the sweaty Melbourne summer for cooler, more relaxed climes. It was only an hour away by plane too, so if you’re in Melbourne there’s no excuse not to visit.

I stayed at the Pickled Frog Backpackers in Hobart, which is the the best hostel around and highly recommended. Particularly if you like huskies, which let’s face it, who doesn’t?

While I was there, aside from napping and swigging red wine with my room mates, I climbed all the way to the top of Mount Wellington, saw a poo machine at the MONA museum (honestly, google it) and made friends with some kangaroos at the Bonorong Wildlife Park.

Five days well spent I say.

Oh, and if you’re in town please remember to go to the Saturday Markets at Salamanca and have brunch at the Machine Laundry cafe. It was my favourite place to eat while I was there and they have halloumi on the menu, so you won’t be disappointed.

Speaking of solo mini breaks, I’m currently in Bali for a month!

I’m mainly here to volunteer at a cat clinic on the Gili T (more on this very soon), but I’ll also be exploring the island, drinking beer on the beach and spending some time in Ubud, staying at the Om Ham Retreat.

I’ll be putting together a few blog posts while I’m here, but until then feel free to stalk me on Instagram and Twitter to see what I’m up to!

I’ve also made a Facebook page, so give it a Like if you’re feeling kind.
